Minutes of the General Committee Meeting of the Centurion Lacrosse Club, held on Tuesday 25th September 2007.
Present: The President, Mr. John Maynard, and Messrs. R. Balls,
N. Forsyth, P. Mundy, R. Okill, S. Williams, R. Zimmern, D. Hanks.
Apology for absence: Mr. G. Wilkinson.
- Minutes of the General committee held on 6th June 2007 were agreed.
- Hon. Secretary’s Report. Mr. Mundy said there was nothing to report, not covered in the Agenda.
- Hon. Treasurer’s Report:- The President welcomed Mr. Forsyth in his new capacity as Hon. Treasurer.
Mr. Forsyth circulated and Income & Expenditure account for the year to 10th September 2007. He said there were 82 paid up members at date.
Mr. Forsyth said there was a need to change the signatories on the club account with its Bankers. It was agreed
that any two of the following would sign on behalf of the Club, Messrs. N. Forsyth, J. Maynard, P. Mundy.
- University Teams. It was agreed that those University teams that the club had assisted with grants of equipment
be asked to become paying members of the Centurions.
- Secondary Schools. It was agreed unanimously that the club should give consideration to assisting
Secondary Schools to start Field Lacrosse by providing them with equipment. With this in mind the Secretary
undertook to arrange a meeting of all those Southern Clubs intending to develop Lacrosse in Schools local
to their Club ground.
- Lacrosse Development in Universities. Mr. Balls reported that the ELA had provided £500.00 to the Head of
sport at a 6th Form College for the purpose of teaching students how to coach Lacrosse, which would be useful to
them and the game when they continued their education in Universities, in several parts of the country, thus assisting
the skills of other Lacrosse playing students. There were 32 University teams likely to be registered this year.
A paper reporting on current University coaching was circulated.
- Centurion Handbook. Mr. Balls reported that the new Handbook would probably consist of 48 to 50 pages A5 size.
The likely cost was acceptable.
- Presidents Letter. It was agreed that the current Presidents letter could be published on 'Lax-Forums'.
