  2. HON. SECRETARY’S REPORT.

The year began with The World Series held in Manchester. This provided a great opportunity to meet with those developing our game in schools, colleges and universities. Also it gave the opportunity for members to get together for a very enjoyable lunch prior to the Final of the tournament.

Over the season we have provided help with equipment to support new developments at the following clubs and schools:

    Glasgow LC
    Hull LC Schools Programme
    Langley School, Norwich
    Norwich LC
    Plymouth LC Schools Programme
    Settlebeck School Sedburgh
University of the West of England LC.

In addition, with the support of the South of England Lacrosse Educational Trust (SELET) equipment was provided to Bournemouth University LC.

We have also provided DVDs of the game, posters, and general advice to numerous university sides.

Thanks are due to all Centurions who have assisted in maintaining links with local universities. Geoff Fox, in particular, now finds himself surrounded by a host of new clubs in the South West.Andy Slaughter raised funds through sponsorship on The Great Yorkshire Run and leveraged the value of his efforts by channelling funds through SELET where they were enhanced by Gift Aid.

Thanks are due to the ELA for a grant of £3,000 and to SEMLA for a grant of £400.

The SEMLA Six a Side tournament was again organised by The Centurions at Walcountian Blues ground. This year, in addition, a new SEMLA County Tournament will be held at Reading’s IBIS ground.

The ELA have been helpful in enhancing our profile, particularly in the North, by providing and distributing great hand outs at the Northern Flags and giving PR to the club on the ELA website.

Tom Brunner was awarded the 2011 Stan Smith Award.

A regular bi-monthly newsletter now goes to all members, where I have an e mail address.
