In attendance: Ben Jessup, Bernie Daniels.

  1. APOLOGIES were received from Henry Collinge.

  2. MINUTES of the General Committee meeting held on 17th April 2017 were approved as a record of the statements made at the meeting.

    1. Centurions Masters.

The change of venue for the 2018 World Championship venue from Manchester to Netanya in Israel has the project on hold awaiting details of the festival. However, Ian Ballantine continues to express interest in managing a team. We shall re-evaluate the prospects when full details are known.

Two teams were entered in the sixes one of which won the minor trophy.

    2. It proved difficult to arrange for sufficient members to attend the Ladies World Championship on the day offered to us and so we have not taken space in the entertaining area. A number of members are attending on different days.

    1. House of Lords Dinner. The facilities at the House have been booked for 29th June 2018.

Subscriptions were flowing in well. A donation of £870 had been made to SEMLA representing the surplus on entry fees received for the six a sides. Assets now stood at £4,962. There seemed to be no drop off in membership following the decision to increase the club subscription by £5 to £40 a year.

A golf day had been organised at Davyhulme Park Golf Club on 21st April. Twenty eight members and supporters had signed up for the day. An engraved putter was awarded to the winner of what is intended to be an annual competition.

Consideration was being given to organising an outing, possibly by canal or steam train.

The northern lunch will take place on either Sunday 22nd October or 29th October at Davyhulme Golf Club.

    1. Sevenoaks Coyotes. A group of parents which include a former England ladies player are forming a club in Sevenoaks with the support of Walthamstow Hall School. They are playing at U15 and U13. To facilitate logistics both teams play at the same time. We have provided two sets of goalie gear and assistance in establishing the club. Giles Clarke, who lives locally, has offered to advise on umpire training.
    2. Other developments. We are in early stage discussions with Churchdown School, Uppingham School, and Glasgow LC regarding developments for next season.

There had been difficulties organising a lunch at the Market Porter. It was agreed to organise the next lunch on 7Th November at The Coach and Horses.

  9. SIXES

A successful tournament had again taken place.

The roles of The Centurions and SEMLA in managing the tournament now seemed unclear. Ben Jessup agreed to consult with the SEMLA Executive so that the matter could be discussed at the next meeting.

It was agreed to update the PR brochure.

Meetings will continue at The Coach & Horses on 5th September, and 7th November.
