June 2018 General Committee Minutes

Minutes of the General Committee of The Centurion Lacrosse Club held on 12th June 2018 at The Coach & Horses Public House, Bruton Street, London.

Present: Steve Williams (In the chair), Ron Balls, Neil Forsyth, Denis Hanks, John Maynard, Peter Mundy, John Wigmore, Rob Collinge (Secretary), In attendance, Clive Beaumont, Steve Cluney, Tom Gare.

  1. APOLOGIES were received from Henry Collinge, David Marsden, Dave Slaughter, and Geoffrey Wilkinson.

  2. MINUTES of the General Committee meeting held on 27th March 2018 were approved as a record of the statements made at the meeting.

  3. MATTERS ARISING

    None.

  4. SECRETARY’S REPORT

    None.

  5. TREASURER’S REPORT

    Assets now stood at £5,723. This included the final sum due to the House of Lords for our dinner. This will not be billed to the club until after the event.

    A discussion took place regarding future of the Stan Smith Fund. The treasurer suggested it be consolidated in our main accounts. The Fund now seemed to lack a clear purpose. The chairman agreed to consider the original terms of reference for the fund and to present a report to the General Committee on the future of the fund.

  6. NORTHERN SUB COMMITTEE

    There had been 40 entries to the annual golf tournament. This year’s lunch is planned for 21st October at Davyhulme Golf Club.

  7. HOUSE OF LORDS DINNER

    Denis Hanks reported that all was in order for the night. Ninety one members and guests were attending.

  8. DEVELOPMENT

    Equipment had been provided to the new Nuneaton club for the use of members new to lacrosse. Camden Capybaras were still seeking a ground to use in Camden with our assistance.

  9. BOX LACROSSE

    The secretary reviewed the current status of development of box lacrosse. Although there are a number of initiatives under way they lack a clear governance structure. It was decided that the club would look favourably on requests for support from box lacrosse which met our usual criteria for support.

  10. MASTERS LACROSSE

    Clive Perrin had requested support for a masters tournament to be held at Wilmslow LC. It was agreed to purchase a trophy. The Northern Committee were to meet to consider any further support.
