Centurion Support

Universities

Our current venture is to assist students starting lacrosse in their chosen universities. Over 100 universities, to which the government intend to send about 50% of all young people, provide a fruitful source of players and leaders for our present clubs or as pioneers to start new clubs.

Over the past few years the Centurions have supported the introduction of Lacrosse at the following Universities:

Aberystwyth Bangor Bath
Birmingham Brighton Bristol
Brunel Bournemouth Cardiff
Canterbury Christ Church College of St Mark & St John East Anglia
Exeter Gloucester Hertfordshire
Keele Kent Leicester
Lincoln Manchester Newcastle
Northumbria Northampton Plymouth
Portsmouth Royal Holloway College Staffordshire
Swansea Swindon University of the West of England
University of Wales Institute, Cardiff (UWIC) Warwick

The game flourishes even though the original leaders have completed their studies because we try to ensure that the leaders whom we support find and develop their successors.

We provide equipment, videotapes, a CD produced by the Canadian Lacrosse Association, and lacrosse posters to assist new leaders to recruit players at the annual Freshers Fairs. Bristol recently obtained 105 expressions of interest – perhaps creating a problem if they all persist but what a wonderful problem that all clubs would like to have!
